Interior Photography of a contemporary box extension and restoration to an urban town dwelling house in Co. Kerry.
The interior images show the lighting and kitchen by Ikea. The skylights and glass corridor with timber floor are special features of the house.
“Set in the heart of the village, the house is on a long, narrow site sloping from the street to the Shannon Estuary to the north. The design approach consisted of reinstating the original four-room plan to house the sleeping quarters and creating a new extension accessed from the side lane to accommodate the living areas. A ramped, glazed link connects old and new, creating a south-facing courtyard. The extension comprises a pair of intersecting single and two-storey blocks that respond to the site constraints to maximise both solar gain to the south and the panoramic river views to the north.”
